friday facts 3/9/12: things i ate this week...
OK, a couple things here to begin.  This title is slightly misleading.  It is all things I ate within a week, but it was more like LAST week, but I’ve just been thinking about it now. I am a very fortunate young lady.  I eat fairly amazing things all the time, whether they are high class or a little more fabulous (and usually greasy) trash.  But they all make me happy.  The restaurant...

an open letter to my bootcamp workout...
Dear Pain-fest, Die.  Die slowly, the way you make my muscles feel. Oh golly good gracious.  Why is it that I decided to embark on this journey with you?  What part of me decided it was a good idea to wake up with the sun and do a muscle-killing, tear-inducing, hunger-making workout before I go to my dual jobs and work for 14 hours?  Oh, it must have been the skinny-girl,...

my aging crisis via footwear...
There’s this pair of sandals I want. I saw them—on clearance, mind you—when I was at the shoe store buying new shoes for my restaurant gig. Those, the restaurant shoes, are a necessity. They no longer offer any support (and I’m not talking emotionally, though they don’t do that either), and have left me whining in pain on the floor after several busy nights lately....

goals for february...
Wow. I need to get back on my game. It’s funny how a little thing like a car accident just throws everything out of wack (that’s half sarcasm). I’m welcoming February in grand fashion: with these 7 goals. Why 7? I don’t know. It doesn’t matter. 7 is a great number I highly under use. So, here: 1) I’m instating a bedtime. That’s it. It must happen....

three wishes for the week: 12/4/11...
1) I wish you will go back to reading my Pondering the Pulitzer blog.  I wish you would tell your friends to read it.  It needs love.  2) I wish this week you and I find great motivation to get through this hectic time of the year. 3) I wish December is a beautiful month filled with natural wonder and human compassion.

friday facts 12/2/11: things you may have missed...
1) I was in a car accident.  And while I only sustained minor injuries, it totally has thrown me off my productive game for weeks now.  Minor injuries need so much rest. 2) I didn’t even tweet for 5 days.  Insanity.  Please refer to prior fact for reasoning (though it was also holiday-stress induced, as well as the follow up fact). 3) I am at my wits-end with my Blackberry.  It’s...

Suddenly, it’s beginning to look a lot less like Thanksgiving. Then again, it wasn’t looking too much like Thanksgiving before Thanksgiving. I suppose this is a trend all over the place—stores and cities decorating for Christmas before Thanksgiving, radio playing those carols at the same time.  However, I like in a city nicknamed “The Christmas City”.  Sometimes I...

Dear Crazy Internet Day: I’m afeared. Honestly, I was a little nervous even to open an Internet page to have to write this Blog post.  I was sure deals on electronics and toys and shoes would come shooting out at me from the screen, whizzing by like spells from a wizard’s wand or something.  I’m a little too overwhelmed at this moment to make any good, ya know, what are those...

1) I wish the Halloween photos posted on social media of you (and me) are either good looking or hilarious. 2) I wish I will be presented with opportunities to do good in this world.  I wish that I recognize these opportunities when they are in front of me.  I wish you will find ways to do good also. 3) I wish you and your family find ways to stay warm that are affordable.

1) I like thinking about where I was 24 hours ago from any given moment.  I like wondering about where I will be in 24 hours from any given moment. 2) I’m a synesthetes.  Your words trigger approximately a dozen reactions in my brain, one after another.  It’s a domino.  So sometimes my verbal comments go from point A to point L.  I forget you didn’t see all the train stops in...

Do you like books?  (Oh, I”m hoping for a chorus of YES!) Do you like me?  (Just humor me.) Do you like the idea of me talking about books?  (Try to contain yourself, darlinks.) So, during my nearly two-week tumblr absence (and intermingling absences before that), this blog post was written…and it NEVER posted (that was part of the problem I was having with said blog, forcing me to take a time out).  While it might not be the most brilliant of things I’ve ever written here (also not the LEAST brilliant), I think parts of it are humorous.  Also, I don’t...

friday facts, 10/14/11: things i can't do...
1) I can’t ice skate.  I haven’t even been since I was 11.  There are many reasons.  Everyone thinks this is weird.  Many people promise to teach me, no one ever does it. 2) I can’t help but watch every episode of Jersey Shore.  The cast members frequently infuriate me.  I must watch.  I felt the same about that MTV show many years ago with Tommy Hilfiger’s daughter and...

OK.  Can we move on yet?  Can I stop feeling bad now?  Yes?  OK,...

one day i'll have all the books: discard sale...
I won’t lie to you, tumble-loves: I wasn’t expecting much from the 2nd discard sale.  It’s in the next city.  I’ve seen it advertised…but always a few days after it’s happened—they only have it once a year.  The library a few blocks from my house (Book Sale #1) has a discard sale every 2 or 3 months.  So, when I accidentally forgot the one in June, it was...

This morning I had a particular shirt in mind that I wanted to wear (navy blue silk button down with white dots), and realized it is at the dry cleaners.  I thought, “Pshaw, this is the kind of thing that happens to adults, not me…wait…” Then I started thinking…uh oh… more than just my constant wearing of cardigans are making me an old lady.  Symptoms include: ...

It’s holiday season already.  What; you don’t believe me?  Pish tosh, submission season is upon us.  And one day, this is my wish for it: Rather than worry, and scurry, and lament over my submissions of poetry and short fiction—I will simply place my work lovingly with beautiful magazines asking after it. Sigh. So say a million other wannabe writers, yeah I know. I can still...

three wishes for the week 9/4/11...
Let’s be honest: this is sort of a hollow, melancholy time for most of us coming up.  We here on the East Coast were just rocked beyond an 80s song by a hurricane.  Next week, there’s a 10th anniversary that is anything but celebratory.  There’s rioting, there’s scandal, there’s political stupidity, there’s way too much not being nice to each other.  So...
